It all started with a question: what is health?

5,000 years ago the search for the answer to life's most important question - what is health? marked the beginning of the oldest science of life and the glorious tradition of holistic health care. Recognised by WHO (World Health Organisation) as the oldest healthcare system in the world, Ayurveda was the first science to define the nature of life and the dimensions of health beyond the physical level.

The word for health in Ayurveda is ‘swastha’, which means ‘to be established in the self’ - an alignment of body, mind and spirit. Although Ayurveda has its roots in India, its knowledge is relevant for every human being on the planet, and it is making its way to a growing worldwide public/from East to West/is being recognised more and more worldwide.

When diet is wrong, medicine is of no use. When diet is correct, medicine is of no need.
― Ayurvedic proverb

The principles of Ayurveda

Ayurveda is based on the principle that the entire universe and the human body are one, and that the same principles govern both. Both the universe and the human body are made up of five elements: space, air, fire, water and earth. The five basic elements manifest in the human body as three unique biologic principles known as tridoshas: Vata,Pitta and Kapha.

Ayurveda treats the mind and body according to a person's Dosha using a system combining diet, herbal remedies, detoxification, yoga, lifestyle and routine in order to maintain a disease-free and healthy life.

If you want to know more about your unique constitution - your Dosha, and get personalised advice on how to improve your health and prevent disease, you can schedule a private appointment with one of our Ayurveda consultants.
